About

A newly established laboratory at the University of Zadar

This page is the laboratory’s founding identity: how it was established, then mission, vision, purpose and strategic goals from the founding documents. It is not a research identity. The research themes are the areas we intend to work in; they will become that identity as the laboratory produces its own work.

Establishment

LACMIS was established with CODES as its foundational project

Cooperation for Development of Cross Border Business Environment Strengthened - CODES, implemented through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro Programme 2021–2027, provided the initial framework and resources for laboratory equipment, training and programme development.

CODES is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro Programme 2021–2027. The views expressed on this website are those of LACMIS and do not necessarily reflect the official position of the European Union or the Managing Authority.

Mission

The Laboratory’s mission is to bring together research in cognitive modeling, artificial intelligence and intelligent systems with education, practical development and collaboration beyond academia. We aim to connect fundamental and applied research with the needs of students, professionals, public institutions, businesses and society. The Laboratory provides a space where theoretical ideas, computational models, experimental data and real-world problems can be explored together.

02

Vision

The Laboratory’s vision is to become a nationally and internationally recognized university centre for cognitive modeling and intelligent systems, bringing together scientific excellence, interdisciplinarity, open science, the responsible application of artificial intelligence, and strong connections with teaching and partners outside the academic community.

03

Purpose

The purpose of the Laboratory is to build a lasting research and teaching environment for cognitive models and intelligent systems at the University of Zadar, with the space, equipment, expertise and organisational support needed for high-quality work over the long term.
