Accessibility
Accessibility is part of the implementation, not a post-launch patch
This site is built toward WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic HTML, keyboard access, visible focus, contrast-aware tokens and reduced-motion support. A full independent audit has not yet been run.
What is in place
- Semantic landmarks and heading hierarchy.
- Skip-to-content link. The mobile menu closes on Escape, outside click, and when a link is followed.
- Visible focus states and high-contrast controls.
- Responsive layouts without horizontal scrolling at common mobile widths.
- Reduced-motion handling for reveal effects and the hero constellation.
- Light and dark themes, following the operating system until the header button is used. The palette control is labelled Navy / UNIZD.
- Descriptive alternative text on the full LACMIS logo and on people portraits; the small brand mark is ignored by assistive technologies.
Still to do before we claim conformance
Run automated and manual checks: keyboard-only navigation, screen-reader spot checks, zoom to 200%, form error states, colour contrast on every palette/mode pair, and document accessibility. Until that pass is done, this page describes intent and implemented features, not a certified AA result.
